Big sky show tonight

The annual Perseid meteor shower is expected to put on a good show this week for those ready to get up in the small hours of the daybreak and wait good-naturedly for the shooting stars.

In North America, the best time to timepiece will be between midnight to 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 12, but late Tuesday night and also Wednesday night could establish abundant, weather permit.

The Perseids are always reliable, and sometimes rather spectacular. The only thing that put a disincentive on the August show is ghastly climate or bright moonlight. Unfortunately this week, as the Perseids arrive at their peak Tuesday and Wednesday night, the moon will be high in the sky, outshine the fainter meteors.
