The Golden Globe Nominations 2011 for the 68th annual Golden Globe Awards announced on December 14th, 2010 are sure to give us all a good idea as to who will be picking up an Academy Award (Oscar) nod. The awards show is set to take place Sunday, January 16, 2011 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel and will be hosted by Ricky Gervais. Pirates Of The Caribbean 4 On The Stranger Tides Trailer. Gorgeous merfolk, magical fountains, malicious pirates, overweight kings -- it’s all in a day’s work for Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow, who will return to theaters once more in next summer’s Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

Pirates Of The Caribbean 4 On The Stranger Tides Trailer. Contest winners that attended the “Pirates Fans First!” party got to check out all the swashbuckling action in the first theatrical trailer for Disney’s fourth Pirates of the Caribbean on the big screen in all its 3D glory -- and now that teaser is online for everyone else to see as well. Franchise writers Ted Elliot and Terry Rossio went the Thoreau route (“Simplify, simplify”) and crafted their screenplay for On Stranger Tides as a stand-alone venture featuring Captain Jack, much like the first entry in the series, The Curse of the Black Pearl. Whereas that film revolved around villainous buccaneers cursed with immortality (being undead and all), next year’s POTC flick finds the lovable but incorrigible Jack Sparrow on a quest to avoid his inevitable demise by finding the legendary Fountain of Youth.

Along for the ride this time are series veterans Geoffrey Rush and Kevin R. McNally as Captain Barbossa and Joshamee Gibbs, respectively; newcomers Penelope Cruz as Jack’s old flame, Angelica, Ian McShane as her dad, the pirate Blackbeard, and Astrid Berges-Frisbey as a mermaid named Syrena, a lovely but mysterious sea creature who plays a pivotal role in the plot of On Stranger Tides.

Giants-Vikings Game.With just minutes to go before the 7:20 p.m. game time, the television rights to tonight's Giants-Vikings game remained mired in a standoff between FOX Sports, the National Football League and ESPN.

It remains unclear whether the game will appear at all in the Hartford and New Haven markets. Attorney General Richard Blumenthal prodded the NFL to take action to assure the game would be broadcast in Connecticut.

Later, the NFL and Blumenthal were trying to broker a solution between FOX Sports and ESPN, Blumehthal said, and Blumenthal appealed to ESPN to allow FOX Sports to show the game in Connecticut.

Blumenthal said late this afternoon that he was "exploring legal options," but he did not elaborate. Earlier in the day, he sent a letter to the NFL, imploring the league to allow FOX to show the game in Connecticut.

Tom Brady has done it again. And so have the Patriots. Indeed, all those who thought that Brady and the Pats were going to have a tough time with both the Bears' defense and the Chicago weather can think again.Instead, New England dominated again, beating the Bears 36-7 to earn their 11th win over the season. The Pats also punched their playoff ticket with the win, as they will have a wild card spot at the very least.

Brady threw for 369 yards and two touchdowns, both of which came in the first half as the Pats stormed out to a 33-0 lead.With the snowflakes falling steadily in Soldier Field, the Pats opened the scoring on a short pass from Brady to Rob Gronkowski. They would pad their lead with a 26-point second quarter, which included a touchdown on a fumble recovery by Gary Guyton.

Brady's second touchdown pass came with no time left on the clock in the first half, as he hit Deion Branch on a 59-yard bomb to run the score to 33-0.That pretty much did it for the Bears. They gained just 185 total yards, and turned the ball over four times, twice on interceptions by Jay Cutler.

That makes it five in a row for the Pats, who definitely have a leg up in the chase for home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Definitely a good time to be a New Englander. The Detroit Lions announced that there will be no charge for admission when Ford Field hosts the postponed game between the New York Giants and Minnesota Vikings at 7:20 p.m. Monday.The Detroit Lions announced that there will be no charge for admission.While there is no charge, fans will need a ticket for the game. Tickets can be obtained free of charge beginning at 9 a.m. Monday at the Ford Field box office. Anyone with a ticket stub for today’s Packers-Lions game will gain admission to the game.

All tickets will be general admission. The only fans who will have preferred seating will be ticket-holders for the originally scheduled game at Mall of America Field.The Giants-Vikings game was postponed today due to heavy snowfall. The move was forced to when the roof collapsed at Mall of America Field in Minneapolis.

The NFL reportedly also considered moving the game to Indianapolis' Lucas Oil Stadium and to TCF Bank Stadium at the University of Minnesota. But the NFL said Detroit was the best logistical fit given that Fox camera crews were already in town for the Lions’ game against the Green Bay Packers.It will be the first NFL game held on Monday night at Ford Field since the stadium opened in 2002. The Lions last hosted a Monday night game in 2001 at the Pontiac Silverdome.Vikings Interim coach Leslie Frazier said 41-year-old quarterback Brett Favre will go through a pregame workout to determine if he’s able to play.

Favre is listed as questionable after getting hit hard and slammed to the turf on his first pass of last week’s game against the Buffalo Bills.Frazier said in a conference call before the Vikings departed for Detroit.The Vikings held a short walk-through this afternoon, but Favre did not do any throwing.

People are changing their Facebook profile pictures to cartoons through December 6th in an effort to speak out against child abuse and violence. It’s a great cause, and seeing all of these fun 1970s, 1908s, and 1990s cartoons again sure is a lot of fun!

Some critics of the popular show of support are referring to the practice as "slacktivism", meaning that people are basically lazy and only support or like things where there is no sort of "real" action required. Similar to the "Like" function on facebook, which allows people to "support" a cause without having to truly get involved or physically do anything.

Dexter Season 5 Episode 10 "In The Beginning, Dexter and Lumen kill the fourth of the five abusers, leaving only Jordan Chase. All signs point to him as the ringleader among the five. The latest to die, a banker named Alex, protested that he and the others would have never acted on their own, would have never abused all those women: “It’s all Jordan! He has this way.” Karma comes sharply for Alex, in this case by Lumen’s own hand as she sinks a knife into his heart, her hands adorned in the leather gloves Dexter purchased for her.

Just as Dexter discovers a possible ally in the pursuit of Lumen’s former captors, he and Lumen are forced to step down as Homicide uncovers some key evidence linked to one of their prior victims. Debra, who’s been reassigned to the Barrel Girls murders, positively identifies two more suspects in the case.


Remember how last week Dexter protested (a bit too much) to Aster and Deb that Lumen was not his girlfriend? Well, this week he obviously had a change of heart, seeing as the two of them went from kissing to shagging all in the space of two minutes.

They've been building to this moment rather slowly for several episodes now. A few episodes ago, Lumen still seemed too damaged and their relationship too imbalanced (he was obviously her protector) to make a sexual encounter believable, but tonight's episode was rather overt from the start.

All signs pointed to go the moment Dexter gave her the gloves, not to mention when he saw Lumen in her "kill outfit." Incapable of proper flirting, Dex just stared at her, smitten and struggling to speak. It was almost worthy of a teen romantic drama. Considering all the commentary about hunting in pairs, and how relieved she seemed after stabbing one of her torturer's to death, it was absolutely no surprise when they finally found a way into each other's arms.

When the big moment finally arrived at the end of the episode, the scene was heart-racing, awkward and tender, just as you'd expect between a psychopath and a victim-turned-vigilante. It's sweet good that Dexter finally, finally has someone with whom he can be completely open and himself, but how much longer can their lovefest last? With only two episodes to go in the season, it's still a big question mark in this spoiler-free recapper's mind how they will resolve this relationship. There's no room on this series for Dexter to have a sidekick lover, so it's hard to be invested in a relationship that's doomed.

Speaking of doomed relationships, this series is full of them. Deb and Quinn will likely only stay together if he doesn't discover the truth about Dexter (which seems unlikely), and LaGuerta and Batista (who lack any and all chemistry) aren't exactly the picture of connubial bliss. It's kind of twisted, but at the moment, Dexter and Lumen are the healthiest and happiest couple.

Who else squealed in delight at seeing good ol' Archie Morris (Scott Grimes, best known for his seven years on 'ER') as the missing fifth rapist? It was almost a shame he was killed off so quickly, although at least the writers gave him some extra lines before Lumen straddled and stabbed him. Of course now there is absolutely no link between Jordan and the cabal of kidnappers except for the crazy Emily Birch character, who is being manipulated by Jordan Chase.

We know she told Lumen the truth about her gang-rape at summer camp (and Jordan's former life as a fat boy named Eugene Greer). But the scene with Jordan wasn't expected. What exactly are they? Is she just the living symbol of his debut as a motivational speaker/life coach? Other than his charm, what's so irresistible about Jordan that led to his ability to convince four life-long friends to secretly torture, rape and kill? What motivates him? His fast-talking psychobabble and childhood obesity isn't enough of an explanation, but the answer will probably be revealed next week.

Peter Weller continues to steal his scenes as the shady but on-the-right-track Stan Liddy. It's not the first nor the last time someone will find out about Dexter, but we all know what happens to people who do. Weller hits all the right notes as a disgraced cop desperate to redeem himself -- no matter what the cost. And who can blame him? Dexter would be a bigger catch than the Trinity Killer for Liddy, and he's so very close.

In the third of three post-midnight live television broadcasts, the prime minister said that he had ordered an investigation and declared that Thursday would be a national day of mourning. A Cambodian embassy official in Washington said that 4 million people had descended on Phnom Penh for the three-day water festival, which marks the end of the rainy season and whose main attraction is the traditional boat races. Seattle Weather Forecasts morning has alerts for snow, wind and ice, according to The Seattle Times. Some areas will receive snow of up to three inches.The Meteorologist Dennis D'Amico of the National Weather Service says that the Seattle metropolitan area will see snow from one to three inches, low temperatures in the "teens" and winds of up to twenty-five miles an hour.

Seattle Public Schools elected to send Middle and High School Students home early Monday, rather than wait for temperatures to drop and more snow to fall.

Elementary schools were already closed for the day due to winter weather and snow throughout the greater Seattle area. Middle and high school students were dismissed at 12:35 p.m. All after-school activities were canceled.

The weather is expected to worsen Monday evening, with more snow showers expected to continue dusting the region. Snow is expected to fall heaviest south of Seattle.

However, temperatures are supposed to rapidly plummet, causing snow or slush-covered streets to turn to sheets of ice. Many Seattle students ride public transit to get to school, causing long lines of students waiting at bus stops

Parker, the San Antonio Spurs point guard whom Longoria filed for divorce from Wednesday after three years of marriage, confirmed in a statement that he had not filed for divorce first in Texas and had not hired a divorce attorney at all. Hardly sounds like a roller-coaster relationship, as the two are still talking.

Longoria is seeking spousal support from Parker, who recently signed a $50-million contract with the Spurs that goes through 2014.The "Desperate Housewives" actress found hundreds of text messages sent between her husband and Erin Barry, the wife of former Spurs teammate Brent Barry. The message exchange reportedly ended over the summer.

But rather than infidelity, the reason for the split was more about geography, according to an Access Hollywood source who said that, although Parker admitted texting another woman, there had been no sex involved — just flirting. "Desperate Housewives" shoots in Universal City; the Spurs take their shots in Texas, or wherever the team travels.

Everlyn Lozada's Pictures. It seems as though fame and money have a lot to do with this engagement. It seems a bit bizarre to me that a couple would decide to get married after only four months of dating. That’s not a lot of time to really get to know someone. I’m no expert on marriage, and I obviously don’t know this couple firsthand, but I don’t see this one lasting very long. It seems more like a publicity stunt for the second season of “Basketball Wives,” than an actual loving commitment. However, stranger things have happened in the Hollywood/sports world so why not celebrate good news? Congrats to the happy couple!

The Leonid Meteor Shower happens tonight, November 17th through the 18th. With 15 to 20 an hour, you'll be able to see a meteor streak across the sky every few minutes, though Discovery Magazine puts it at more like 20 to 30 an hour.

The best time to observe should be after midnight, when the earth is facing the incoming bits of gravel. No telescope needed, just a space far away from light pollution where you have a wide view of the sky, and maybe a lawn chair to keep you from getting a crick in your neck.

Unfortunately, the gibbous moon will be bright this year. The Bengals Receivers: Terrell Owens and Jermaine Gresham are set for their Bengal debuts, and Owens matchup will be a familiar one. Chad Ochocinco could have some tricks up his bag. Last preseason he kicked, maybe this preseason he'll play quarterback. Matt Jones will look to make the most of his second chance in the NFL. Youngsters Andre Caldwell and Jerome Simpson also have something to prove. It will be interesting to see if Jordan Shipley can live up to the training camp hype.

Andre Smith: Smith got a late start last season, and it will be interesting to see how much he has improved in the off season. He showed flashes, but he had too many mistakes, and nothing would make the Bengals happier if he showed progress. Smith should play at least two drives tonight.

Antwan Odom: Odom became the Bengals top defensive player last season, until he suffered a season ending injury. He is looking forward to playing, but Marvin Lewis will defiantly put a snap count on him.

The Travel Channel’s hit show Man vs. Food was in Syracuse earlier this week to film an episode for its upcoming third season. One of the places they visited was Wohl Field at Syracuse University’s Lampe Athletics Complex where host Adam Richman donned the legendary #22 jersey to tape a segment with some former Orange lacrosse stars.

Wisconsin Unemployment. Wisconsin continues to borrow federal money at a record pace to help replenish state’s unemployment fund. The state Department of Workforce Development confirmed that Wisconsin’s unemployment debt has reached $1.42 billion. The projected deficit will be nearly $2.9 billion by the end of 2011.

Wisconsin unemployment benefits pays an average of $290 a week to the jobless. It is funded by employer taxes. Once the fund is depleted, Wisconsin taxpayers could see higher taxes and lower benefits.

Wisconsin’s state unemployment rate dropped in April. Officials say 16,400 jobs were added in the largest one-month jump in more than 14 years. Department of Workforce Development Secretary Roberta Gassman said the evidence signaled the state’s continued economic recovery.
