Hard Knocks Jets Episode 1 Season 1

A year ago at this time the New York Jets were not on the radar of too many pundits. And why would they be? They were coming off of a disappointing 9-7 season that saw them miss the playoffs for the 3rd time in 4 years. They had fired head coach Eric Mangini, replacing him with 1st time head coach Rex Ryan. They also had to replace quarterback Brett Favre, who after one up down season with the Jets decided to start throwing around the “retirement” word yet again in order to get his release. They boldly moved up in the draft to select QB Mark Sanchez, and then made it known he was probably going to be the starter from day one. Rookie head coach, rookie QB. A recipe for disaster, right? Not exactly. By employing a smash mouth running game that took much of the pressure off of Sanchez and relying on a league leading defense, the Jets peaked at the right time and went on a spirited playoff run that saw them end up in the AFC championship game, where they came up short against the Indianapolis Colts. Ryan himself opened a lot of eyes by basically becoming the Peter Griffin of the NFL, a fat guy with the balls and lack of tact to say anything at anytime. Being the son of infamous red ass Buddy Ryan, the man credited with building the 1985 Chicago Bears defense that is thought of by many to be the best of all time, Rex and his twin brother Rob followed their dad to the NFL. Rex won a Super Bowl ring as the Baltimore Ravens defensive line coach back in 2000 and eventually worked his way up to defensive coordinator. Rex has carved out his own identity in the NFL. While he shares a few of his father’s traits (quick wit, quicker tongue) I don’t think we’ll see him punching out an offensive coordinator on the sideline anytime soon. With a gregarious head coach and a number of eccentric players, the J-E-T-S are the perfect subject for the 2010 edition of HBO’s Hard Knocks.

The Hall of Fame Game In This Time 2010

The Hall of Fame Game In This Time 2010. The 2010 season unofficially kicks off at 8:00 pm ET tonight as the Dallas Cowboys take on the Cincinnati Bengals on sacred football grounds in Canton, Ohio. Although we will only see a glimpse of what these teams will look like in the regular season, scouts and coaches will be watching carefully all around the United States for young talent.

John Phillips: The Cowboys will not keep Jason Witten in the game long, and Martellus Bennett is suffering from an ankle injury. Phillips is the ultimate dump off target, which is what preseason games are mostly compiled of as far as passing is concerned. He has a large body and solid hands. He could see 5-10 passes thrown his way tonight.

Kevin Ogletree: Ogletree should see a lot of action tonight, and he better take advantage of it. Reports out of Texas are saying that Ogletree has been walking around with an unearned sense of entitlement. Ogletree will be fighting for his job tonight, after a poor start to camp.
Doug Free: Free has been the hot topic in Dallas this offseason. Set to replace the solid Flozell Adams, fans will be looking for instant success. Free managed to keep Jared Allen away from Tony Romo in the playoffs last off season, but he got plenty of help from backs and tight ends.
Robert Brewster: With the offensive line starters probably only getting a couple of drives, Brewster will get a chance to prove to the cowboys that he was worth a high draft pick. Brewster could see time at both guard and tackle. Reports from the Big D have not been promising for Brewster.

The Bengals Receivers: Terrell Owens and Jermaine Gresham are set for their Bengal debuts, and Owens matchup will be a familiar one. Chad Ochocinco could have some tricks up his bag. Last preseason he kicked, maybe this preseason he'll play quarterback. Matt Jones will look to make the most of his second chance in the NFL. Youngsters Andre Caldwell and Jerome Simpson also have something to prove. It will be interesting to see if Jordan Shipley can live up to the training camp hype.

Andre Smith: Smith got a late start last season, and it will be interesting to see how much he has improved in the off season. He showed flashes, but he had too many mistakes, and nothing would make the Bengals happier if he showed progress. Smith should play at least two drives tonight.

Antwan Odom: Odom became the Bengals top defensive player last season, until he suffered a season ending injury. He is looking forward to playing, but Marvin Lewis will defiantly put a snap count on him.

Brandon Ghee: If anyone here didn't see him take down Dez Briscoe, you might want to search Brandon Ghee in the search box on the upper-right of the site.

Pacman Jones: Jones should see a lot of playing time tonight - at returner and cornerback. I wouldn't even be surprised if he was featured in an offensive formation. Jones has not shown much as of late, and tonight would be a perfect time to get on the coaches good side.
Carlos Dunlap and Michael Johnson: Both players have bust written all over them, but they have some raw talent that could be turned into something nice. Both players could see a lot of playing time tonight.
